OH yea! asked:

I want to start taking motorcycle racing classes close to Orange County, CA. Where do I begin? How much does it cost? How long is the training and when do I actually get to ride on that track? Can I just ride on the track and not race without taking classes. I want to make this a new hobby and really eagered to get started.

Can I wear a motorcycle racing jacket if I don’t ride a bike?

Joey boy asked:

I’ve always liked formula car racing and love the leather jackets with all of the sponsors patches. I’ve found some very nice jackets, but they are made for motorcycle riders/racers. I would take the liner and armor out and just wear it casually with jeans, because I like the look. My concern is that people will constantly ask me if I race or ride (which I don’t) or that the jackets are made for riding only, not to wear casually.

I’ve just bought a stolen/recovered motorbike. It’s a DR125 which has been used on the fields. I would like to get it back on the road. I have bought a new engine for the bike which has engine numbers, however the frame numbers have been removed. I got a full receipt with the bike when i purchased it. Is there anyway of re-registering the bike??

What Is The Best Motorbike Helmet Around?

Matt L asked:

I am 21, live in Bromley, Kent (Greater London), have a full drivers licence (with Pass Plus), have passed my CBT and am doing my DAC in the next couple of weeks. I’m looking to get a 500-600cc Honda (CBR preferably but insurance so I’m told is high so probs a Hornet).

Couple of questions…

What motorbike helmet do you reccomend? The two shopkeepers I’ve spoken too have said top of the range Shoei are the best for safety but £500 seems a lot of money to spend. I want to be safe and of course would be prepared to spend that money but I dont want to spend £500 on a helmet that is no better then a £200 one.

Could someone also shed some light on what I’d expect to pay for insurance. I understand there are many issues involved when it comes to insurance but I’m just looking for a rough estimate. Maybe someone who is / has been in the same position?

Thanks a lot in advance.

How do you skim floating discs off a motorbike?

DON L asked:

I am wondering how to skim a floating brake disc off a motorbike. Because the disc has the ability to float and therefore centralise itself within the brake caliper, will the disc not just push away from the tool?

I want to make a mandrel to accept the disc mount spider thingy for my lathe but need to know if it is possible to face them off this way before I do so.

Thanks in advance.

I’m looking for a model or type of motorbike that is reasonable for insurance purposes for my 18yr old daughter who has just passed her bike test. She has a full car licence to and has had no claims but insurance seems VERY high for any motorbikes i’ve looked at. Any advise would be welcome.
She has had a 50cc scooter for a year and a car for 7 months. no claims on either insurance polices. she is looking for a 125cc or a 250cc bike.
